The hardware
dialog is used to associate the pointer device with the monitor / desktop
area that is controlled by the device. It also shows
hardware port information. |

Shows
the desktop area handled by the pointer device. In the example shown
below the device ‘Quanta Computer, Dual’ is assigned to the desktop area
displayed on Monitor 2: The
desktop area can be set to the following values: Whole: This is normally set in a
single monitor system. Whole actually indicates the Primary monitor. Monitor N: In a multi-monitor environment
this option is used to associate the device to a specific monitor. Important:
See Configure All below. If using UPDD extended
touch in a multi-monitor environment in Windows 7 or Windows 8 further
configuration is required as described here. Custom: A custom desktop
area can also be defined to restrict the cursor movement to a specific
area within the desktop. A full desktop calibration screen has a virtual
co-ordinate size of 65535 x and y.
Custom calibration areas are based on these co-ordinate values. Other: Used to specify non native
desktop segments normally associated with graphics drivers used to extend the
desktop across multiple monitors. Configure All… Useful in multi monitor systems
this will automatically assign the correct desktop for all touch monitors on
the system rather than having to manually assign them one at a time. A cross is displayed on each monitor in
turn and if touched the desktop is automatically assigned to the touch
device. Esc or no touch will cancel the function for a given monitor. Important
note: This option is especially
important in Windows 7 where in some instances the Monitor number seen in the
Windows Display Properties does not correlate to the internal display
reference (particularly when multiple graphics cards are configured in the
system). E.g. we have a 3 monitor system with 3 x dual graphics cards where
the display properties shows one of the monitors as Monitor 3 but the actual
internal display name relates to Monitor 5!
In this case Monitor 5 needs to be selected and this would not be
known by an end user. See on-line
multi-monitor documentation for more information. |

Shows
the port connected to the device. In the case of USB, PS/2 and Bus
connected devices this shows connection information. In the case of
serial this option can be used to configure serial port settings. |
||||||
|
This
option is used to add a device. Under UPDD 4.1.x only non USB devices are
manually added. USB devices will be automatically added by the PnP manager. |
||||||
|
Used to
remove a device. Under UPDD 4.1.x only non USB (e.g. serial) or inactive (unplugged)
USB devices are manually removed. Active USB devices cannot be removed. |
||||||
|
If shown, this option invokes a controller firmware page to adjust firmware settings and / or test the controller. |
